Texas LIVE Covers Wimberley, TX
The girls of Texas LIVE headed to the Hill Country town of Wimberley this month to experience the charm and whimsy only Wimberley can provide. We packed our cars and hit the streets to find out everything you need to know when visiting this fascinating little place. Check out your May/June issue for all the details on how you can win a weekend getaway to Wimberley.
The first thing we did upon arriving in town was to check into the finest Bed & Breakfast in town, Alexandra's House.
Our hosts, Rosemary and Reed were GREAT! Although running the Bed & Breakfast is their 'job', we felt as though we were honored guests in their home.
The rooms were super comfy and spacious. Rosemary uses only the finest linens and pillows and no detail is left undone. The rooms also had their own TV's and DVD players - import information for the men in our lives ;)
Each morning Rosemary prepared for us a two-course breakfast that was to die for! Homemade scones, pancakes and fruit dishes were prepared with fresh-cut herbs from her hill country garden. Isn't her kitchen adorable? We sat around her island chatting and drinking coffee each morning - it made it hard to go to work!
We set up our computers in this fabulous screened in sun porch. The spring weather was fantastic - just cool enough to make the hot coffee taste even more wonderful. Rosemary has little hummingbird friends and other native Texas birds right outside her windows who shared their joyful songs with us each morning.
Wimberley is nestled next to the Blanco River approx. 15 miles west of San Marcos. The Blanco is spring fed so the water is always refreshingly cool and clean.
There are many outdoor attractions in Wimberley including the EmilyAnn Amphitheater & Gardens which hosts the annual Shakespeare Under the Stars performances. This little theatre has an incredible story behind it, and we will be publishing the behind the scenes story later this summer.

Darios American Bistro in Cypress,Texas Highway 290 West
If you haven't been to Dario's American Bistro in Cypress, Texas, you've been missing an amazing dining experience. My husband and I stopped in one evening thinking we would enjoy a casual cafe dinner. We were pleasently surprised when we walked in and saw this dining room, complete with wait staff clad in white starched shirts and black pressed pants. The experiences was fantastic, romantic and we truly felt like honored guests at this place!
Darios Salad
Darios food is excellent. I was so impressed with the freshness of the produce and the presentation. My husband ate the roasted duck and they came to our table to carve it right in front of us. Super Cool!
Did I mention DESSERT?? I think the picture speaks for itself, but just in case . . . Strawberry Cheescake, Creme Brule, Tarimisu . . . need I say more?
Check them out on the web. They are located on Highway 290 West out of Houston.

Out and About
Texas LIVE is out delivering magazines today, here's some of the fun stuff that we've found while out and about:
The Antique Gypsy in Brenham, TX is one of the most fun places to stop for a girls day out. Mary Ellen has the cutest shop full of whimsical furniture, gifts, artwork and more. I've been bringing my girlfriends here for years. It's seriously one of the best stops in the area. If you're headed to Round Top this spring, put this shop on the top of your list. The Antique Gypsy is also my favorite place to purchase Yellow Box Sandals. They are 40% OFF !!! The BEST SANDALS EVER - better get you some for spring:)
Of course with new sandals comes the need for an updated pedicure. Thyme Day Spa is awesome!
Thyme Day Spa is the most peaceful, tranquil spa between Houston, Austin and College Station. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is amazing. The perfect spot for an afternoon "time out."
These boots are from Nellie's on the downtown Brenham square. OMG!!!! They are awesome! This store totally rocks. I shop here for lots of birthday presents and I always buy seasonal clothing pieces here. Boots, Jeans, Dresses, Jewelry and Accessories -they have the most unique things. I also love that her stuff is for 'real women' - her sizes actually fit and you don't have to be a teenage size 2.
Super-cool dress for spring - Nellie's on the Brenham downtown square.
How cute is this chair??? We LOVE Hermann Furniture for this very reason - they are so cool! Jennifer always keeps the store updated with the latest colors and trends. If you haven't been in lately, you must go. Just walking through their doors puts you in the mood for spring decor!
Easter anyone? Aren't these adorable?
